It’s getting cold outside and those dropping temperatures will certainly do a number on your skin. In addition to the hot chocolate and warm soup. Make sure you have everything your skin needs to combat winter skin. Here’s your checklist.
Lots of Hydrating Foods
Add a few of these moisturizing foods to your grocery list during the colder months and fight winter skin from the inside out. Foods like salmon, tuna, nuts, avocado, olive oil, cucumbers, sweet potato, blueberries, cranberries, and strawberries all contain moisturizing nutrients such as omega-3 fats, vitamins A, C, and E, and silica which hydrate the skin and keep it healthy.
A Humidifier
During the colder months, we naturally turn up the heat to stay warm and cozy. The temperature increase leads to a loss of moisture in the air and can contribute to loss of moisture in the skin. Humidifiers increase moisture in the air and can help keep the skin moisturized. There are a variety to choose from and distilled water may be recommended for some to counter the effects of minerals in tap water.
Concentrated Serum and Moisturizer
Moisturize in layers during the winter months. A concentrated serum with hyaluronic acid layered with a nutrient rich moisturizer will help the skin feel and look its best this time of year. Our teams favorite winter duo is the Awakening Hydrating Serum and Awakening Daily Moisturizer this power team will maintain your glow during the cold months and also keep your skin soft and supple.
Lots of WATER
Seems like the solution for every skin ailment is “drink more water” and even though the more you drink the more trips to the bathroom you take there is no denying that water is very good for fighting winter skin. Water hydrates and replenishes the skin. It is good for the lips this time of year as well so drink up!
