Tis the Beauty Season: How to Prepare Your Skin for Holiday Family Photo Cards
Thanks to Steph and Ayeshia Curry and countless other celebrity families many folks are preparing to say cheese this holiday with family photo cards to celebrate the season. Holiday photo shoots are the official kick off to the holidays for some families and we must admit we totally get it. Holiday photo cards are everything from adorable to glamorous and can truly showcase a family’s style. If you plan on sending photo cards this year you definitely need to be skin ready and our team has you covered with our skin ready tips. Keep reading to learn more.
Tip 1
Plan your fillers, facials, or peels, at least one month in advance before your photos. One month is ample time to plan and schedule your services, it also provides a safe amount of down time should the skin need to heal from a non-surgical facial procedure. If you are worried about “elevens” (the creases between the brows) and other deep creases that show up when you smile or make certain facial expressions you can try a botulinum neurotoxin in conjunction with filler at least 6-9 months in advance before your pictures. At home, you can prepare the skin with a concentrated serum that addresses elasticity, skin firmness and brightness. The Awakening Peptide Boosting Serum for Normal Skin with vitamin C is a great support for this.
Tip 2
Decrease the risk of breakout before your photoshoot by removing your makeup properly. Cleanse your skin with the Awakening Milk & Honey Cleanser remembering to extend it into your hair line to remove makeup that may have been applied in that area. Allow it to rest on the skin for 3-5 minutes to dissolve extra dense makeup. Remove with warm water and repeat the cleansing process again to ensure everything has been removed. Left over residue from make up can clog pores and cause breakout and irritation on the skin. Proper removal decreases the likelihood of this.
Tip 3
Planning the fine details of a photoshoot can be stressful. Beat the stress with one of our favorite pick-me-ups. Apply Awakening Eye Cream to the under-eye area and use jade rollers to gently massage and work in the eye cream. This quick pick me up soothes tired eyes and definitely helps improve the appearance of the under-eye area.
Tip 4
If you are down to the wire and have only a few days or even just a day to get your skin ready for your photo session. Opt for a mild enzyme or low percentage chemical peel for your skin. These options while mild, will lessen the chance of adverse reactions and provide controlled exfoliation and skin brightening. Before applying an enzyme or mild at home chemical peel make sure the skin is free of all dirt and residue by cleansing and toning with Milk & Honey Cleanser and Toner combo.
