Spring Forward...Put A Forward Step in Your Skin Routine
If you are anything like our YELLE team then you are officially over winter and have started the countdown to spring. Some of us in the office have been eagerly awaiting spring since the day after Christmas when we peeped some of our favorite retailers putting swimsuits on display to get our minds off the winter doldrums. With March and spring forward right around the corner (FYI our time springs forward on March 10th and the first day of spring is March 20t) it’s a fine time to turn your mind to your skin routine in anticipation of the good weather that is yet to come and start getting skin ready. Here’s a few tips on what to do.
Last Round for Chemical Peels
Our favorite time of year for chemical peels is the winter followed by fall. During the winter months people are generally less likely to be outdoors in the sun and have ample time to care for their skin and have it ready for the warmer months. Plan your next chemical peel accordingly, before spring, and before the weather gets too hot.
Spring Clean Your Beauty Routine
Don’t let old or expired cosmetic products pile up on your nightstand. On March 10 go through all your products and toss the ones that are old or expired. Expired cosmetics don’t serve your skin well and can cause acne, rash, itch and other uncomfortable skin irritations. Keep things simple, keep what you need and toss what you don’t. Any products that are rancid or that have separated beyond their manufacturers suggestions should be immediately tossed and considered harmful to the skin.
Replenish Allergy Medication
Do you suffer from seasonal allergies? Did you know that allergies could be the cause of your periorbital hyperpigmentation? Periorbital hyperpigmentation aka dark circles under the eyes can be caused by a variety of things including allergies. The increase in pollen and other outdoor allergens during the spring can wreak havoc on allergy sufferers and cause visible irritation to the eyes and skin. If you are not a stranger to seasonal allergies it probably makes sense to visit your doctor before things take off with your allergies and makesure you have the appropriate allergy medication on hand at home to address the symptoms of seasonal allergies.
Revive Your Skin
Chances are that even though the calendar says spring, it might take a few days or weeks for the weather to actually catch up. Once the temperature does begin to change you may need to re-visit your facial routine and swap out certain products such as serums to better accommodate the condition of the skin. Don’t worry the YELLE collection has three different serums to meet your skin’s seasonal needs. Revisit our skin quiz to find out which serum is right for your skin for spring.
Don’t spring forward without an appropriate YELLE skin care routine in place. Your melanin deserves the attention no matter what season we are in. Happy Spring!
